I've got the 2013 SRT Viper upgraded to an R3-level. All engine upgrades to the max, brakes, roll cage, weight removal, clutch, transmission, tires, etc. My problem is that I can't get this beast to behave.
It's squirrelly in the corners while also not being very nimble. Seems to have a large turning radius when it's under control, but it easily gets loose and throws it's weight from side to side. I've noodled with a lot of the tuning options but can't dial it in. Also, I don't have Gold so I can't download any tunes for it.
I dropped all the engine mods and brought it down to an S-level and got it feeling pretty solid. Then I tried putting the power back in and bringing it up to an R3 but it was still a handful.
Do we have any FM4 tuning geniuses on here? I'd really like to get this snake dialed in properly for fast track use. I'd need a basic list of settings though that I could dial in myself. Thanks!

Well a few thing scould be causing this, do you have the wheels set to max width?

When I first DLed this thing I test drove it, found it kinda boring (!!!! I know!). I modded it up to a respectable level and found it really just sub par. So then I maxed everything out and it became a total mess. I haven't driven many upper level cars in Forza that totally fall apart handling wise as the 2013 Viper does. I haven't touched it since. I think Turn 10 did a really poor job on it. Usually you can put every upgrade on a car of the Viper's performance level and still result in something at least somewhat half decent (before tuning anything). Not the 2013 Viper. Even with over 1000 HP I found it wasn't even that fast either. And before you say anything, I have excellent throttle control even on typically "difficult to drive" cars. The only cars I feel are too much for me to handle are the Australian V8 supercars when you bump their HP up over 900.
My suggestion: Just set the car aside or run it in S class. If you REALLY want to make it work, start here:
Set front and rear tire pressure to 28.5. Front and rear camber at -0.8. Front toe in by 0.1 degree and rear toe OUT by 0.1 degree. Caster should be around 3.2 ish. Then try softening up the suspension and swaybars. It will make the car less twitchy (and less responsive) but increase grip by keeping the tires on the ground a little better over bumps. Try setting your rear diff to around 18% accel and 30% decel. If you find it understeers too much try bumping them both up to 55% - 75% and then playing around with them. I like my cars to lean towards oversteer so I typically run my front sways softer than the rears. Same goes for front vs rear spring stiffness.

This is a problem with every viper (ACR, SRT Viper) as well as with the koenigseggs and R35 GTR. As soon as you add a bunch of power upgrades they become an absolute handful to get around a corner. Honestly i only use my ACR to drag race. I kept my SRT Viper at an S level and its my best S class car. (according to the ranking system- in my view it isnt the best but whatever) Ive also never found a fix for the handling. With my GTR (which has the same problem) i had to adjust my driving style when it's upgraded to an R3. I found that out accelerating and out breaking people into and out of corners is your best bet at winning. Chances are you'll be a tenth slower in the corners but the acceleration and top speed more than make up for it. Also make sure you are at a track with a lot of long straights and slow-slowish corners (Nurburgring GP, Indy GP etc.) to play to the strengths of your car.

As I think I saw someone else saying, try making the car softer, especially in the rear, this will make it dig in a bit more but it'll definitely go hard when it does let go. Next, turn down the decel locking on the diff and it should help your feeling like a boat through corners problem a bit.

Thanks to everyone for the input. I was hoping to make this a competitive R3 as an alternative to buying the pack with the GT3-R's. What can I say? I'm cheap.
I've found it goes like stink in the straights. I might try some of your suggestions to get it to behave in the turns, but I also may just keep it at an S-level.

I really don't enjoy driving the Koenigseggs, though I think they're amazing cars. I suppose they'd be better if I kept the traction and stability controls on, but I always have them off.

I believe I do have the tire width maxed out.

Knock the diff to 25% under accel and 0 decel...feel the difference and adjust from there. Tell me if you loved it or hated it.

Take them back down and stagger them a little bit like front one up over stock and two up over stock and that should help

For any of you who are interested, I've gotten a setup, that I like fairly well for just working on it another 30-40 minutes. Here it is:
UPGRADES: I removed everything in the Engine and Power upgrades except Camshaft and Flywheel. I have race brakes, springs and dampers, roll bars and cage, and max weight reduction. Race clutch, tranny, and driveline, stock diff. Race tires, all at max width. Stock wheels and diameter. Race bumper and wing.
TUNING:
tire, front-31.5, rear-30
Gearing final drive-3.62, 6th-0.81
Camber, front: -1.5, rear -1.2 Toe, front: 0.7, rear 0.4 Caster:5.3
Anti-roll bars: front 10, rear 14
Springs front: 280, rear 320 Ride Height front: 4.2, rear 5.2
Rebound stiffness front: 3.5, rear: 6 Bump stiffness front: 2.5, rear: 4
Downforce front: 122, rear: 330
Braking 52% front, 98% pressure
Differential is non-adjustable stock
Also, I drive with the Microsoft wireless racing wheel and pedals. I'd love for some of you guys to mirror my tuning setup and see what you think! I stripped out almost all the extra power but kept everything else so it's more controllable now, which means I'm faster. Testing was done in the Viper/Corvette challenge on Road Atlanta and Infineon mostly.
Based on the numbers some of you gave me I think my usual tuning style might be different from most players. I'm no gearhead though, just a non-mechanically-minded car-enthusiast.
